Day 7

Hi All,

Today  we headed 157 miles East to Golden B.C., Just this side of the Canadian Rockies. We thought it would be like our national parks where you can pull over and smell the roses, but no such luck. Only one main road through Glacier NP Canada and that's a 4 lane at 60 MPH with very few pull-offs. As far as wildlife goes, the only 4 legged animal we have seen was a marmot in Whistler. Obviously all the wildlife heard our boarders in the USA our open and we give free food and health care to all.

Maybe better luck tomorrow.

Lake Shuswap

Prilly can't find any shells.

Someone asked why is the water so blue there? Notice no sand, just small stones and the water is crystal clear.

IMG_2135.JPG

Smokey Mountains up here also.

Even this small stream is blue.

IMG_2142.JPG

These snow tunnels are all over up here. I wonder how many animals use these for shelter when the road closes.

We get just inside the park and go by this bad accident. In case you're wondering, it's a tractor trailer. The cab is to the far right completely flattened.

It makes you think how quick  things can happen.

IMG_2148.JPG

Looks like winter up there. Raining here but it's down 34 degrees.

IMG_2150.JPG

I zoom back so you can see how close that snow is getting to us.

Finally over the hump to the other side of the pass, and on our way down. It stops raining and the sun comes out.

IMG_2154.JPG

That's one big rock.

IMG_2155.JPG

That water is so clear.

IMG_2161.JPG

This scrubby pine has its own ornaments.

IMG_2162.JPG

It's ok honey, I'll let you back in the car.

IMG_2163.JPG

Peaking through.

IMG_2168.JPG

We spot what we think is a hawk.

IMG_2169.JPG

Don't think I mentioned this but the train follows Highway 1 all the way across the Rockies. The trains are super long, about 200 cars, with a engine in front, back, and in the middle.

IMG_2170.JPG

We land in Golden at the base of the Rockies.

That will wrap it up for today see you tomorrow.
